Installation

nidagrass^®  is very quick and easy to install. The various stages are explained below.

1. Foundation

For optimal drainage use coarse crushed rock or rubble, size 0-32, for the base. Depending on the existing soil and the expected load, we advise laying a base that is between 20 and 35 cm thick. Ideally, this hard base of crushed rock is compressed using a road roller or a compacting beam to obtain a sufficiently firm and level surface.

2. Bedding Layer

In order to allow the grass to take root in the subsoil a 10 cm thick bedding layer is laid. This bedding layer can consist of leaf mould and expanded clay granules or lava or the existing layer of loamy sand can be mixed with peat and leaf mould. Press down and level using a rake.

3. Laying of the nidagrass^® grass pavers

Lay the selected nidagrass^® grass pavers on top of the levelling layer and press firmly down into it. As the nidagrass^® grass pavers are always supplied in preconnected panels of 2x2 pavers, rapid installation is guaranteed. If the area to be covered with grass pavers is not completely rectangular, you can cut the grid to size using a grinder. The pavers continue to work effectively on slopes of up to 45 degrees.

4. Sowing

Use a mixture of expanded clay pellets or lava, fine green compost, washed sand and fertilizers to fill the nidagrass^® grass pavers. Fill the pavers up and remove any excess material. In order to retain an airy structure this mixture should not be compressed. Sow with a strong grass mixture that can withstand heavy use and then water the grid so that the filler sinks to 1 cm below the surface of the pavers.

Tip: If a section needs to be separated from the rest, place it on a higher surface at the point of separation and push it out of the connecting system using your foot.
